The LEGAL HFC 4 LIFE project, implemented by the PROZON Foundation, actively participated in the International Trade Fair for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technology HVAC EXPO 2025, held from 25 to 27 February at PTAK Warsaw EXPO in Nadarzyn. Participation in the event was a key element of the project’s communication activities, aimed at raising awareness within the HVAC industry about illegal HFC trading and promoting legal and environmentally responsible practices in this area.
One of the main topics at the fair was the new F-gas and EPBD regulations, representing significant changes for the HVAC sector. Visitors to our stand had the opportunity to learn more about refrigerant reclamation and the regulatory changes arising from Regulation 2024/573. We also discussed the objectives of the LEGAL HFC 4 LIFE project, which aims to develop and implement a model of cooperation between public authorities and the industry to improve HFC monitoring and combat illegal trading.
At our stand we presented a demonstration display panel used to support instructors during free training sessions for the refrigeration and air conditioning industry and for public administration staff. We provided a detailed explanation of the process of testing refrigerants using a gas analyser. Our specialists actively promoted the free training offer tailored to the new F-gas legislation. The courses, aimed at refrigeration and air conditioning professionals, enable participants to develop practical skills in the identification of refrigerants and cylinders, significantly raising awareness in the fight against illegal HFC trading. The training sessions were met with great interest and positive feedback from participants.
During the fair, we presented the “Guide to Refrigerants and Legislative Changes”, containing up-to-date information on the regulations arising from Regulation 2024/573, including new equipment servicing prohibitions and restrictions on placing refrigeration and air conditioning equipment on the market. We also made available our own brochure on identifying illegal fluorinated gas containers, which provides key guidance on the appearance, labelling and return rules for reusable containers.
On the first day of the fair, Krzysztof Grzegorczyk, President of the PROZON Foundation, delivered a presentation at the 360 Congress entitled “Threats to the Achievement of the Environmental Objectives of Regulation (EU) 2024/573”. He discussed key issues related to the implementation of the new regulations, drawing particular attention to the problem of smuggling and counterfeiting of refrigerants, which significantly hampers effective market monitoring. His address also highlighted the importance of protecting consumer rights and intellectual property, which are crucial for the development of innovative, environmentally friendly technologies.
The Foundation’s President also took part in a debate entitled “The Situation of the HVAC Industry in the Face of Current National and EU Legal Regulations”. The discussion focused on the impact of greenhouse gas emission reduction regulations and certification requirements on the development of the HVAC sector. Challenges facing the industry were addressed, including the need to invest in modern technologies, system modernisation and adaptation to stringent environmental standards.
Participation in HVAC EXPO 2025 was an excellent opportunity for the LEGAL HFC 4 LIFE project to build valuable business relationships, exchange experience and gain inspiration for further activities. The event not only strengthened our position as an expert in the field of legal HFC trading, but also allowed us to present concrete solutions supporting the industry in adapting to the new legal regulations. We are delighted by the great interest shown in our activities and look forward to continued cooperation in building a safe, sustainable HVAC market.
