The most important changes introduced by Regulation (EU) 2024/573 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 February 2024 on fluorinated greenhouse gases, amending Directive (EU) 2019/1937 and repealing Regulation (EU) No 517/2014
- The new Regulation 2024/573 introduces stricter limits on the quantities of F-gases that may be placed on the EU market. By 2030, a gradual reduction of these gases by 80% compared to 2015 levels is planned.
- The list of equipment and products for which the use of F-gases is prohibited has been expanded. This includes new categories, such as certain types of refrigeration and air conditioning systems, which must now use more environmentally friendly alternatives.
- New requirements have been introduced for regular inspections and servicing of equipment containing F-gases. The aim is to prevent leaks and ensure that equipment is maintained in a manner that minimises emissions.
- The new provisions strengthen the reporting system for quantities of F-gases placed on the market, with the aim of improving monitoring and control of their use and emissions.
- The new Regulation introduces stricter penalties for violations of F-gas regulations. These include both higher financial penalties and the possibility of imposing operational restrictions on companies that fail to comply with the new rules.
