Handling of accessibility-related requests and complaints
Everyone has the right to request that the digital accessibility of a website, mobile application or any of their elements be ensured. It is also possible to request that information be made available through an alternative means of access — for example, by having a digitally inaccessible document read aloud, or by having the content of a video without audio description described. The request should include the details of the person submitting it, an indication of which website or mobile application is concerned, and a means of contact. If the person making the request indicates a need to receive the information through an alternative means of access, they should also specify a convenient format for the presentation of that information. The public entity should fulfil the request without delay, no later than 7 days from the date of submission. If it is not possible to meet this deadline, the public entity must immediately inform the applicant of when the request can be fulfilled, provided that this period does not exceed 2 months from the date of submission. If ensuring digital accessibility is not possible, the public entity may propose an alternative means of access to the information. If the public entity refuses to fulfil the request for accessibility or an alternative means of access to information, the applicant may lodge a complaint regarding the digital accessibility of the website, mobile application or any of their elements. Once the above procedure has been exhausted, a complaint may also be submitted to the Commissioner for Human Rights.
